Tecorón is an enchanting place which offers a sunny climate, even during the winter months, ideal for enjoying the Sea of Calm in an environment of volcanic sheets and unique sunsets.
It has all the necessary installations for enjoying a splendid day on the beach, two roofed zones with grid-irons and wood for a barbecue, tables and fresh water.

Recommendations:

- Tecorón lies within the marine reserve of Punta de La Restinga Sea of Calm, and its rules should be observed.
- Pay attention to the ocean´s conditions and follow the attendants´ recommendations in the absence of locals.
- Don´t leave anything behind.

The beach La Restinga is the only one of urban character of El Hierro, reason why all the offer and the services of the town are at the foot of sand.

El Julan is one of the most important treasures of canarian arqueology, both for its extensive rock engravings known as Los Letreros and Los Números, and for its quantity of vestiges of the Bimbaches present in this part of the island.
The park has an interpretation centre and a guided route through the archeological site, as well as offering to the visitor the allure of being able to enjoy a magnificent landscape.
As archeological site the park has established rules destined to conserve the archeological legacy, in accordance with those one should at all times follow the indications of the personnel and the signs.
Prior to visiting El Julan one should get information concerning opening hours and norms.

This small dock was built to bring to this point the materials needed to build El Faro de Orchilla.
Today is one of the most popular recreational places in El Hierro, as it is not only a place to enjoy Las Calmas, as it has an area for cooking, with firewood and water; As well as bathrooms.

Tanajara offers the opportunity of contemplating most of the municipity in a 360 degree angle. To the north, the forests´crown of canarian pine trees. To the east the nucleus of Las Casas and next to it the cliff which forms Las Playas. At the foot of this look-out of 900 metres of altitude, lies El Gusano which is situated in the lower part with Taibique. The panorama towards the south let us discover La Restinga in the distance and a landscape dotted with volcanic cones.
The general landscape that Tanajara offers let us contemplate a landscape of dry land, bordered by innumerable kilometers of dry stone walls, fruit of mankind´s needs in his adaption to surrounding nature.

El Mirador de las Playas offers a vertical landscape that allows to contemplate the other great geological "dentellada" of El Hierro, as well as to glimpse in the walls of the cliff the evolution of the formation of the island. In the distance you can see one of these tracks, El Roque de La Bonanza, just where the view shows us the beginning of the arch of Las Playas.

From these heights we can contemplate the slopes of the south of El Hierro and the profile the island has adopted during its formation. From El Julan one can glimpse the straightening and the profiles of the numerous volcanic cones of this zone, not forgetting that we are on the southern face of the greatest of them, the one that forms the Valle de El Golfo.
From this height, 850 metres, one can also observe the way the island´s vegetation is distributed, from the lower plains scarcely populated to the higher locations densely populated for their mountain forests of canarian pine and laurel.

In the 2nd century of our time, Ptolemy marked this spot of the herrenian geography as the end of the known world, tracing the geographical reference of the zero meridian. From then on, and up until the confirmation of America as a continent, El Hierro marked the finisterre of a plane world, beyond the Punta de Orchilla laid the great unknown, perhaps an abyss, where monstrous creatures laid in wait in the netherworld to devour the ships together with their crew.
“(…) The world is celebrating. And Spain is as well, given that her delegates, with profound competence in the complex questions widely debated there, have flown the national ensign very high. ” artist´s illustration (24/11/1884).
With these eloquent words the end of the herrenian zero Meridian was celebrated, these were the conclusions obtained during the 2nd International Conference in Washington where the Spanish delegates voted in favour of establishing Greenwich as universal meridian, the English power having replaced Ptolemy´s memento.

On 25th of September 1933 the beam of the lighthouse was turned on for the first time, a light which gradually has become, by representing the remoteness of an isolated territory, one of the symbols of the island.
El Faro symbolises to the Herrenians the most isolated spot, the remotest of a remote island, to geography, the westernmost coordinate of Europe.
Constructed during the beginning of the thirties of the twentieth century, for years it was the most important and complex civil building site on the island. For the construction of its tower of 132 metres it was necessary to import the stone, quarried in Arucas, Gran Canaria, resulting in the development of a small port, nowadays used as a recreation area.
The white light of the lighthouse has a reach of 24 nautical miles and signals the west coast of El Hierro in the immense vastness of the Atlantic.

It was the first recreational site of El Hierro, with all the facilities in order to spend a day on the mountain. Since the beginning of the 80s, El Morcillo has amplified and bettered its services: grid-irons, water, toilets, camping-site and playground are some of the facilities this site offers.
El Morcillo is the only place in El Hierro where camping is allowed.
During the summer months it is advisable to get prior information on the possible restrictions applicable in this zone.
